Artist Statement

I have loved drawing and painting since I was a young child. It was my way to express my feelings. I developed my artistic side a lot more in high school. I had a wonderful art teacher who motivated me to create my own style while teaching me some great techniques. During my first semester in college, I took an art course but it was no longer the same. I lost interest and dropped the course. Instead, I decided to focus on studying and getting my business/computer degree. After I graduated, my focus shifted to my jobs. Years went by and my art work became a mere memory.

After my daughter was born, I decided to leave my programming career to take care of her full time. That was very difficult for me. I had defined myself through my career and without it, I felt lost. Once my daughter was in school, I decided to go back to work. I had been a programmer (and a darn good one!) for 7 years, but I found it very hard to find a job, especially after being absent for so long in the technology field. That’s when something very distant and almost forgotten came back into my life. It was my art. I had no more excuses and plenty of time to devote to it. On August 2006, I started painting again. All those art years lost, but somehow with more wisdom. And here I am now.
